Cape Coral Beaches
Even though Cape Coral is not located on the coast, there are many beaches within a short driving distance. The city has everything from small family beaches to party time beaches either on the Caloosahatchee River or the Gulf of Mexico. Here are some of the best beaches in Cape Coral.
Yacht Club Community Park
The beach is found within the Yacht Club Community Park on the Southeast corner of the Cape, at the end of Driftwood Pkwy. The beach encompasses a variety of facilities including a community pool, fishing pier, and a public beach. Visitors to the Yacht Club Community Park can also enjoy a covered playground with equipment for children aged between two to 12 years. There is also equipment for people with disabilities as well as BBQ grills, picnic tables, a public boat ramp, and free vehicle parking. For those who love parties and monthly sunset celebration craft shows, there is a clubhouse available right on the beach.
Four Freedoms Park
The Four Freedoms Park is the newest beach in Cape Coral. It is situated on the banks of Bimini Basin, just south of Cape Coral Pkwy. Visitors to this park can enjoy a playground with equipment for children aged between 2 to 12, BBQ grills and picnic tables. Animals are not allowed on this beach and alcohol is not permitted in either of the parks. Both the Four Freedoms Beach and the Yacht public beach are open from dawn till dusk, but there are no lifeguards on duty. Those willing to go into the water should know that they are both non-swimming beaches, and thus going into the water is at their own risk.
Even though Captiva Beach is a little further away from Cape Coral, it is an ideal spot for a secluded romantic evening. With tons of shells and clear blue water, Captiva is the last possible bit of public beach on Captiva. The beach is actually one of the few beaches along Southwest Florida’s coast that has a drop off as you wade into the waters. You can walk for miles on the sandy shores. Captiva Beach is well-known as the most romantic beaches because of its beautiful sunsets. There are restrooms available, parking is limited, and stores are nearby.
Lynn Hall Memorial Park
Lynn Hall Memorial Park is situated nearly 20 minutes from Cape Coral. The beach is specially located next to the Times Square, and area full of shops and restaurants. It is home to one of the area’s well-known attractions: Fort Myers Beach Pier and is a popular family destination. If you are looking for a fun, activity-filled day at the beach, the Lynn Hall Park is a perfect place.
Lighthouse Beach Park
Lighthouse Beach Park is located on the eastern tip of Sanibel. The beach is always breezy and is home to the most photographed site on Sanibel Island: The Sanibel Lighthouse. Even though visitors cannot enter the lighthouse, you can read about the 120-year structure on the beaches. If you love doing other things other staying on the beach, consider exploring the wetlands around the lighthouse using designated boardwalks and nature trails.
